Свежая версия Node.js в Windows 7

При установке Node.js выяснилось, что на Windows 7 64-bit свежая версия не устанавливается. Инсталлятор требует минимум 8.1.

Устанавливать старую версию очень не хочется, потому как все пакеты npm для работы устанавливаются самые свежие. Подбор пакета Puppeteer под старую версию Node.js у меня занял довольно много времени. С горем пополам, методом научного тыка нужные мне пакеты были установлены, но новых функций там, конечно же, не оказалось.

Чтобы решить эту проблему – скачиваем свежий дистрибутив в архиве. На момент написания этой статьи – свежая версия 20.5.0. Но мы установим стабильную последнюю версию 18.17.0. Можете скачать его прямо здесь.

Итак, чтобы установить свежую версию Node.js в Windows 7 - нам нужно:

Распаковать архив в папку, где у Вас уже установлен Node.js, предварительно очистив ее. Затем нужно немного настроить наш Windows. Добавить параметр NODE_SKIP_PLATFORM_CHECK = 1 в переменные среды и перезагрузить ПК. Данным способом я устанавливал Node.js на свой ноутбук.
